Kami Tahyi is an experienced licensed professional clinical counselor and certified specialist in trauma therapy/expressive arts who works with adults. Her specialty interests include women’s issues, trauma healing, career development, and integrating creativity and positive psychology into counseling practice. She utilizes evidence-based treatment approaches that are uniquely tailored to each client.
Kami completed her advanced education at Ohio Christian University, earning a bachelor’s degree in substance abuse counseling, a master’s degree in behavioral analysis from the University of Cincinnati, and a master's degree in Clinical Counseling from Walden University. She also earned a certificate in EMDR and Expressive Arts Therapy.
Before private practice, Kami worked with diverse clients in a community mental health setting, serving as a women’s primary counselor, program supervisor for a women’s residential treatment facility, adjunct program supervisor, and mental health manager.
Kami’s approach to counseling is relational and emotion-focused because she believes that personal growth is the result of empowering connections that are rooted in safety, authenticity, vulnerability, and mutual respect. In addition to being a nonjudgmental, compassionate listener, she is a collaborative strength-builder and problem-solver. She is known for using humor, psychoeducation, metaphors, and the creative arts in sessions.
Her strengths include kindness, love of learning, social intelligence, and the ability to see the bigger picture in life.
In addition to her clinical work, Kami is married to Gene and is “Gigi” to twelve grandchildren and counting. She enjoys church, mixed-media art, and nature.
